Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, November 2-November 6

 
Bair

Fannie Mae has announced that Sheila C. Bair will become chair of its board of directors, effective November 20. She joined the board in August 2019, serving as a member of the Community Responsibility & Sustainability Committee, the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and the Risk Policy and Capital Committee during her tenure. She also currently serves on the boards of Host Hotels & Resorts, the Bunge Limited, Paxos Trust Company and the Volcker Alliance. Notably, she is a former head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, appointed to the post by George W. Bush in 2006 and serving until 2011.

 
Jaffe

Lennar Corporation has announced that its board of directors has elected Jon Jaffe as co-CEO and co-president. Jaffe had already acted as Lennar’s president since 2018. He has worked with Lennar in various positions, including COO, for more than 30 years.

St. Pierre

Guaranty Home Mortgage Corporation (GHMC) has announced the promotion of Anita St. Pierre to chief operating officer. She has more than 30 years’ experience in the mortgage industry; prior to her promotion, St. Pierre was executive vice president of national credit and operations. She joined GHMC in 2019 after 11 years as a vice president of wholesale operations at Franklin American Mortgage Company. She is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross. GHMC has also added Stuart Lynn as chief financial officer. He brings 25 years’ experience in finance and accounting. He joins GHMC after more than 10 years in various leadership roles with Platinum Mortgage. Prior to Platinum, he held various roles with Colonial Bank and General Motors. He is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery with a degree in business administration with a focus in accounting.

 
Lowery

New American Funding has hired Charles R. Lowery Jr. as director of legislative policy and external affairs. He brings more than 20 years of mortgage, housing and advocacy experience to the position. Based in Washington, D.C., he is also responsible for designing and managing New American Funding’s legislative and regulatory research and analysis, and for working with national organizations to advance New American’s mission of increasing Black homeownership. Previously, Lowery served three years as the director of state regulatory relations for a major financial services corporation, and spent five years with the NAACP. His experience in the mortgage/consumer financial services areas includes positions at the D.C. Department of Banking and Financial Institutions and the Center for Responsible Lending.

Plaza Home Mortgage has announced that Mikhael Mikle has joined the company as senior vice president and chief underwriter. In this role, Mikle will oversee all underwriting across Plaza’s three business channels – Wholesale, Correspondent and Reverse Lending – and play a key role in setting the company’s underwriting policies and standards. With more than 20 years of mortgage and credit risk experience, she joins Plaza from Ocwen / PHH Mortgage, where she was the Underwriting Manager of the company’s Direct Retail channel. Earlier in her career, she held roles with PHH and New Diligence Advisors.

Union Home Mortgage (UHM) has announced that Julie Lane has been named the company’s first chief digital customer experience leader. In her role, Lane will spearhead the company’s digital innovation and transformation efforts and improve customer and employee experience across digital platforms. She has over 15 years of leadership experience in digital strategy and customer service. She graduated from LaSalle University in 2002 with her MBA.

 
Bibeau

ThoughtTrace has announced the addition of John Bibeau as vice president of real estate. In this new role, he will provide senior leadership in sales and business development, and provide strategic guidance to customers in the commercial real estate sector. He joins ThoughtTrace from CBRE Group Inc., where he was a vice president in Advisory and Transaction Services. He brings over 22 years of experience and leadership in the commercial real estate industry.

 
Leccese

Sharestates has hired Stephan Leccese as chief strategy & growth officer. In this role, Leccese will lead efforts to identify, incubate and accelerate strategic initiatives on behalf of Sharestates, initially focusing on NPL Swap and Investors Loan Servicing. Previously, Leccese was vice president of operations & finance and head of the New York office for AlphaFlow.

MGIC Investment Corporation, parent company of Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corporation, has announced that Nathan R. Abramowski has been named vice president and treasurer. Abramowski joined MGIC in 2014 as financial reporting manager, advancing to assistant treasurer in 2019. Prior to joining MGIC, Abramowski worked for Brookdale Senior Living and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a bachelor of science in financial planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in professional accountancy from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
