Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, December 7-December 11

 
Hoskins

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) announced today that Borden Hoskins has joined the organization as associate vice president of legislative affairs. In this role, he will be responsible for advocating MBA’s legislative and policy priorities on Capitol Hill, with a primary focus on Republican members of the United States House of Representatives. Most recently, Hoskins worked as legislative assistant on all economic policy issues, including real estate finance, for former U.S. Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ). Prior to that post, he served as legislative director for former U.S. Representative Denver Riggleman (R-VA) and in a variety of key positions on the Republican staff of the House Committee on Financial Services from 2015 to 2018. Hoskins graduated with a bachelor of arts from The University of the South in 2006.

 
Auer

Guaranteed Rate has named Jonathon Auer as a senior vice president of Mortgage Lending in Plymouth, Michigan. Auer joins Guaranteed Rate with more than a decade of mortgage industry experience, most recently as senior vice president of wealth lending with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has also served as a mortgage loan officer with Citigroup.

Interfirst Mortgage Company has announced that Bryan Filkey has joined the company as its chief strategy officer. In his role, Filkey will be responsible for identifying opportunities for Interfirst within the non-government guaranteed space, establishing securitization and proprietary execution strategies to arbitrage agency-eligible collateral, as well as developing and executing on the company’s core long-term strategy. He brings to Interfirst 15 years of industry experience, most recently as executive vice president of credit and strategic initiatives at PCMA Private Client Lending. Prior to that, he also served as senior managing director at theLender as well as president TPO and head of capital markets at Impac Mortgage Corp. Earlier in his career, he held roles at Sun West Mortgage Company, Credit Suisse, Capital One and PIMCO. He is based in Orange County, California.

 
Hanna

Churchill Mortgage has announced the promotion of Kevin J. Hanna to president of the Northwest region. Prior to his appointment, Hanna launched Churchill’s Northwest office in early 2019 and served as executive vice president of the region. Hanna previously spent 15 years in the industry working alongside family.

 
Hoving

Guaranty Home Mortgage Corporation has announced the addition of Charles Hoving as chief compliance officer. Hoving brings nearly 25 years of experience in banking and mortgage lending, joining GHMC from Franklin American Mortgage Company, where he led various risk and compliance functions for nine years. He also previously spent 14 years at HSBC where he was responsible for managing various teams in compliance, quality control and warehouse lending. Hoving is a graduate of Elmhurst College with a degree in finance and economics.

 
Hussey

Sabal Capital Partners has announced it has hired Edward Hussey as head of agency lending. Based in Virginia, Hussey, who joined Sabal on December 1, will be responsible for managing production across all of Sabal’s Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and other agency products and overseeing the recruiting, training and management of the lender’s nationwide production team. Hussey brings more than 30 years of experience in mortgage lending across credit, underwriting and production, including eight years as vice president at Freddie Mac. Before joining Sabal, Hussey served as senior vice president, head of multifamily production for agency lending at SunTrust Bank. Hussey also previously held roles at Wells Fargo Multifamily Capital and Standard Mortgage Corporation.

Braze

has hired Layna Braze for the role of director, valuations administration. She is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the compliance and vendor management programs. She has worked in the financial services industry for more than 30 years and has extensive experience in compliance, process improvement, and managing varied teams using analytics and technology.

 
Gueli

Common Securitization Solutions (CSS) today announced that Susan Gueli has joined the firm as chief technology officer. Gueli is responsible for all technology initiatives for the company, developing and implementing all aspects of the Common Securitization Platform, as well as serving as a member of the CSS executive committee. For the past three decades, she has held various senior roles with Nationwide, including eight years as chief information officer of Nationwide Financial. Most recently, she was chief technology officer of Nationwide’s Program & Application Services. She has a bachelor of science in business administration and computer information systems from Ohio State University.

 
Bourque

LendingHome has appointed Michael Bourque as chief executive officer. Bourque will assume day-to-day leadership of the company and will also join LendingHome’s Board of Directors. Bourque has served as LendingHome’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer since he joined the company in August 2018. Bourque brings nearly 20 years of executive experience to the table, most recently as CFO of Ocwen Financial Corporation. Bourque has also served in leadership positions at General Electric. In addition, Richard Byrne, President of Benefit Street Partners, will join the board of directors.
