Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Dec. 6-10

Guaranteed Rate named Sam Reda as the branch manager of the company’s new location in Northville, Michigan. Reda, a U.S. Air Force veteran, joins Guaranteed Rate with more than 18 years of mortgage industry experience, most recently at Caliber Home Loans. He attended the University of Michigan at Dearborn.

Mountain West Financial announced that Michael Delehanty is stepping into a new role as CEO as part of the company’s long-term succession plan. Delehanty, who has more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, graduated from Siena College with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

Branch, a data-driven home insurance company, announced that Homepoint co-founder and former chief strategy officer Brian Brizard has joined its executive team as chief business officer. Brizard, who also previously founded Pioneer Mortgage, joins the Branch team with more than two decades of mortgage expertise.

New Fed Mortgage added Derek Craig as a vice president of mortgage origination. He comes to New Fed with more than 25 years of mortgage industry experience, most recently as vice president of residential mortgage origination at Century Bank for the past seven years.

Toorak Capital Partners announced the appointment of Kevin Chavers and Francis Byrne to the company’s board of directors. Chavers previously spent 10 years as managing director at BlackRock, serving on the global fixed-income securitized-asset investment team. Prior to his tenure at BlackRock, he was a managing director at Morgan Stanley in the securitized products group. He also formerly served as the president of Ginnie Mae during the Clinton administration. Chavers earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree in city planning from the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture. Byrne is currently a managing partner at Fifth Light Capital and previously served as managing director and head of securitization at UBS Securities. Byrne also spent nine years at Deutsche Bank, ultimately rising to co-head of the global securitized products group, and he worked for Credit Suisse for 13 years in various banking, management and risk-management capacities. He received his master’s in business administration from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and his bachelor’s degree in finance from Fordham University.

The National Apartment Association (NAA) welcomed Josh Gold as its new senior vice president of member education, programs and affiliate engagement. In his new role, Gold will provide strategic and operational oversight for initiatives to support event strategy, affiliate and member development efforts within NAA and the National Apartment Association Education Institute. Gold most recently served as the executive vice president of the Florida Apartment Association (FAA) for more than seven years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University, and prior to his time with FAA, he served in business-development roles for the Institute of Financial Operations and Disney Resort Destinations.
