Notable mortgage industry hires and promotions, Feb. 20-24

New American Funding (NAF), a leading mortgage lender, announced that it is elevating Patty Arvielo to CEO and promoting Christy Bunce from chief operating officer to president. Arvielo, who founded New American two decades ago, will continue to lead the company along with husband and new co-CEO Rick Arvielo. Bunce joined NAF in 2008, initially serving as operations manager. She was named COO in 2012. In her new role as president, Bunce will continue to manage the company’s day-to-day operations while helping New American expand into new lines of business and grow its suite of offerings.

First Home Mortgage Corp. announced the promotion of Matt Nader to senior vice president and director of sales. Nader steps into the position with more than 17 years of industry experience, having spent the past five with First Home Mortgage. Nader began his mortgage banking career in 2006 after graduating from Johns Hopkins University. In 2018, he joined the First Home Mortgage team as a loan originator and branch manager of the company’s Annapolis, Maryland, office location.

Greystone announced that Brett Hill was hired as a managing director in Chicago. Hill will focus on the origination of conventional multifamily loan products for Greystone’s top 10-ranked agency platforms as well as the origination of the full suite of Greystone lending products, including bridge financing and commercial mortgage-backed securities. Prior to joining Greystone, Hill spent 17 years with Wells Fargo, most recently serving as a managing director for the commercial real estate group within the corporate and investment banking division. He earned a bachelor’s degree in real estate and urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Merchants Capital announced the promotion of Josh Reed to executive vice president. Reed, who joined the company in 2020, leads the acquisitions team within Merchants’ tax-credit equity division and previously served as senior vice president.

Radian Group announced that Sumita Pandit was appointed as senior executive vice president and chief growth officer, effective March 6, 2023. She will join the company’s executive leadership team and lead activities associated with developing and implementing the company’s long-term strategic growth plans. Pandit joins Radian after serving as the chief operating officer of dLocal since 2021. Previously, Pandit was a managing director and global head of fintech investment banking for J.P. Morgan. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Pandit worked at Goldman Sachs. Pandit earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from India’s National Institute of Technology.

Big Purple Dot, a mortgage marketing technologies ecosystem provider, hired Masana Noma-Weprin as its new chief product officer. Noma-Weprin will oversee marketing, product enhancement and product development. She’ll also manage enhancements to the platform’s customer relationship management functions. Noma-Weprin has been in the mortgage industry since 2008 and has worked as the vice president of marketing at Revolution Mortgage, TotalChoice Mortgage and Homeside Financial. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Franklin University’s Ross College of Business.
